The new fridge is arriving Thursday and the delivery crew will not take the old one. That is the call we get most. We pull the old appliance out (garage, basement, second-floor laundry closet) and haul it off the same day when the schedule allows.
Appliances are not ordinary trash in Oklahoma. Refrigerators, freezers and window air conditioners contain refrigerant that has to be recovered by a certified technician before the unit can be scrapped. We handle that step properly. Everything metal then goes to a scrap recycler rather than the landfill.
If the unit still runs, say so. Working appliances go to a local nonprofit or a family that needs one before we ever consider scrapping it.
